A graduate in plastic and polymers, who had been in the flat roof industry since 1972. By that time he had been involved in research and development, product design, on-site troubleshooting and technical sales. He worked for two of the largest companies in the industry at the time: Permanite/ William Briggs (now part of IKO) and HH Robertson, which manufactured and contracted in metal wall and roof systems.
Stephen was instrumental in setting up the UK’s first established leak detection company, Leaktector Ltd, later to become part of Thornton Consulting Group Ltd, with wide ranging activities in the field of waterproofing. His work in that area has provided him with a deep insight into why buildings in general – and roofs in particular – leak, which he is able to pass onto the wide client base the company has developed over the years.
He has now retired from Thornton Consulting, but, not wishing to see his experience go to waste, he has set up this consultancy to give assistance to those who need it.
Stephen’s qualifications in polymer science and technology, combined with his experience in product development enable him to produce unique solutions to apparently intractable problems.
